Cover letter
Cover letter: templates, structure and example
A cover letter uses four short paragraphs to explain why you fit that specific role. Use the same templates as your CV so both documents match.
Four paragraphs: the hook, the proof with numbers, the fit with the advert and the close. Nothing else.

Write your letter with AI
Tell us the role you're after and what you've done: we draft the letter in four paragraphs from your own details, inventing nothing.
Who you're writing to
Optional. Without a name we use a professional greeting.
The advert
Job advert text
With the advert pasted in we echo their keywords naturally.
Your proof
Your experience and achievements
Use real numbers: we only include the ones you give us.
Add at least the role and the employer.
The structure that works
- 01
Header and addressee
Your contact details at the top, exactly as on your CV, plus who you're writing to. Use the hiring manager's name when you know it.
- 02
First paragraph: the hook
Name the role and why this employer. One concrete sentence about them beats ten of filler.
- 03
Second paragraph: the proof
Two achievements with numbers that show you can do the job. Reuse the ones already on your CV.
- 04
Third paragraph: the fit
Connect what the advert asks for with what you bring. Echo their keywords naturally.
- 05
Close and call to action
Thank them, offer your availability for interview and sign off with your name. One page maximum.
Mistakes that get it binned
- 01Sending the same letter to every advert without changing the employer.
- 02Rewriting your CV in prose instead of adding context and motivation.
- 03Running over one page or writing paragraphs longer than five lines.
- 04Opening with “I am writing to apply…” — that wastes the most-read line.
- 05Forgetting the exact job title you're applying for.
