01

Professional headline

This is the line that decides whether they keep reading: a specific role and years of experience, never an adjective.

Three or four sentences with your specialism, one figure and your goal. It sits right under the headline.

Tips for this CV

What separates a CV for this trade from a generic one.

  1. 01

Give measurable productivity: lines or units per hour plus accuracy percentage.

  2. 02

List licences with expiry dates — recruiters filter on them directly.

  3. 03

Name the WMS you've used and say whether you picked by RF scanner.

07

What a warehouse operative CV is

Short definition, ready to quote.

A warehouse operative CV is the one or two page document used to apply for a warehouse operative role in logistics and transport: it brings together the professional headline, the profile summary, experience with measurable results and the competencies the trade expects you to evidence, such as RF scanner picking and WMS. Unlike a generic CV, it is ordered around what the applicant tracking system and the hiring manager look for in a warehouse operative: the words used in the advert and the numbers of the actual job.

08

Keywords and where to place them

Each term works best in a specific place in the document. Repeating them all at the end scores nothing.

09

How this warehouse operative CV gets through the filters

What the example above does right, point by point.

  • The headline reads «Warehouse operative with forklift licence and WMS experience»: the job title (warehouse operative) appears literally in the first line, not as a creative synonym.
  • The trade's keywords —picking, WMS, forklift licence— sit inside the experience and summary, where the filter reads them in context.
  • Every achievement carries its figure. «Picked 180 order lines per hour at 99.6% accuracy» is the pattern to copy: volume, timeframe and result.
  • Skills such as RF scanner picking, WMS, Counterbalance and reach forklift are written as plain text, never as rating bars or stars, which no parser can read.
  • The Oslo template is single-column and rated ATS verified, so the sections come out in order.

10

What hiring managers look for in a warehouse operative

The three points that separate two candidates in this trade.

Productivity per hour

Warehouses are measured in lines per hour, units picked or orders per shift. Give your figure and the method: “RF scanner picking, 110 lines an hour at peak”.

Current licences

Counterbalance, reach, powered pallet truck and order picker, each with the date of your last RTITB or ITSSAR refresher. Without a date, a licence reads as expired.

Warehouse management system

Name the WMS or device you used (SAP EWM, Manhattan, Zebra handheld, voice picking). It removes the learning curve, which is exactly what a warehouse manager screens for.

11

Common mistakes on a warehouse operative CV

The ones that repeat in this role, each with its fix.

  1. 01

Writing “loading and unloading” and stopping

Everyone in a warehouse does that. What gets hired is pace, accuracy and machinery: without lines per hour, a licence and a pick accuracy figure, the CV cannot be compared.

  2. 02

    Leaving out pick accuracy

Accuracy is the expensive metric in logistics: every mispick is a return. If you picked at better than one error per thousand lines, say so — it is the strongest argument a warehouse operative has.

  3. 03

    Forgetting peak season

Black Friday and Christmas multiply volume. Having held peak, with a daily order figure, proves stamina and is exactly what seasonal recruitment looks for.

  4. 04

    Not naming the goods

Parcels, chilled food, pharmaceuticals, hazardous goods and steel coil demand different handling. State the product, typical weights and whether you worked in chilled or frozen.

12

What a warehouse operative earns

So you can tell whether an advert is at market rate before applying.

Usual range
Typically £11.44-£13.50 an hour, with night and cold-store premiums on top
What moves the figure
Shift pattern and site type (chilled, hazardous, e-commerce fulfilment) move the rate more than years served do.
Where the figure comes from
Ranges observed in UK warehouse adverts through 2026, benchmarked against the National Living Wage.

Frequently asked

Questions about a warehouse operative CV

Do I need a forklift licence for warehouse work?
To operate one, yes, and it must be in date with accredited training (RTITB, ITSSAR or AITT). Without it you can still start on manual picking, but the licence widens the vacancies and lifts the rate.
What is RF picking and why do adverts ask for it?
It is the barcode handheld that directs picking and logs each line. Almost every modern site runs that way, so RF experience means you can produce from day one.
Does retail experience count?
The goods-in, stock control and replenishment parts do. Write it in those words and add the volume: it is a very common transition and entirely credible when translated properly.
Should I state shift availability?
Yes, it is a real filter. Large sites run three shifts and night availability is the scarcest, so declaring it puts you ahead.
